Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Planners groups.

Fans can expect finding out which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
